Do you hold a grudge and remember from this??

Posted by Comments (3)

Question by MsBliss: Do you hold a grudge and remember from this??
I am working it so very hard to raise funds for my Multiple Sclerosis Society Challenge Walk. I am registered to walk 50 miles in three days in San Diego in Sept… I have to raise $ 2500 to even do this. and it has to be up front. It is alot of money to raise!

My family has given me nothing! I have 3 eldest sisters.. all of who can afford something. My husband has MS so this is a cause deep to my heart. My sister closest to me in age did give me $ 20. ( She could afford 10x this )

My co-workers dodge me every time I ask for a donation.. but I am the first to give them money for thier kids schools.. bands ect. I have emailed that link to our 200 employees 2-3 times.. only my immediate manager has given me anything. I have listiened to coworkers go on and on how they raised money for the 3 day breast cancer walk.. but still no money.

I had to look to outside sources. Local business, cake sals and yard sales… it is better than trying to rely on my friends&family.
I don’t want to sound like a scrooge, but I feel like telling the colleagues when the envelope comes around.. I don’t remember you giving to my cause. I have donated all I could to my own cause….

My family is just pathetic… and the all love my husband.. who has to work very deligently at keeping his symptoms at bay.. with lots of meds and treatment.

Why as so many people so apathetic?

Q&A: HELP! I need a closing sentence for this important essay!?

Question by Kasey: HELP! I need a closing sentence for this important essay!?
“Education is our greatest opportunity to give an irrevocable gift to the next generation.”- Ernie Fletcher

In many countries, people must pay for an education. It is obscure how many people in the United States of America take their education for granted. To be honored with the opportunity to learn for free, all should be exalting, for they are extremely lucky.
To be admitted into the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science is an opportunity of a life time. I am a great candidate to be admitted, for my grades are above average, and all together I am a well rounded student. The amount of community service I have done and will do in the future is an extensive amount. I have experienced feeding the homeless, giving gifts with Angel Tree to children with parents in prison, helping out a woman with Multiple Sclerosis, cleaning up garbage in my local area, and much more. Doing community service is a pleasure to me.
Many people in this great nation are not honored to be able to say that they absolutely love doing math, as I do so. To me, math comes naturally, and I do truly enjoy participating in math class. Going to M.A.T.E.S would be so great for me, since the main focus here is math and science. Along with math, I also love science. In science, I do my best during hands on experiments, so the hands on experiences in M.A.T.E.S would be very beneficial to me.
There is one main reason I want to go to M.A.T.E.S. This reason is I want the best education I can possibly have. Even though schooling usually comes easily and naturally to me, it requires hard work, dedication, and perseverance to succeed. I have not decided what I want as a career when I grow up yet, but I know I do want it to be involving math, and going to M.A.T.E.S is the best opportunity for me to follow my dreams and true passion.
The focus on community service that M.A.T.E.S students have fully described something I am looking for in a high school. I am a proud member of the National Junior Honor Society, a girl scout and a very good athlete; I know how to handle hard work and other activities.
As a studious person, I always want to challenge myself. For fun, and when in boredom, I do mathematics. In M.A.T.E.S pupils are pushed to succeed, to go above and beyond expectations, which is exactly what I want to do.

Ok, there is this high school M.A.T.E.S. This is my essay to get in. I REALLLLLY want to get in, its supposed to be pretty short, ( fit on half a page, im putting it in tiny faunt). I need a closing sentence! any ideas? Oh yeah, also edit anything if u want! THANKYOU!

and btw, God Bless <3

Well, I get that you like math! Just kidding. Your first couple of sentences have the wrong word usage. I re-wrote them:

“In many countries, people must pay for an education. It is surprising how many people in the United States of America take their education for granted. The honor of a free education should be appreciated, for those who receive it are extremely lucky.”

End with:
“I appreciate this opportunity and look forward to the possibility of participating in this program.”

Why this man has recovered from a severe multiple sclerosis precisely during Anointing of the Sick in Lourdes?

Question by Laguna Rock: Why this man has recovered from a severe multiple sclerosis precisely during Anointing of the Sick in Lourdes?
Jean-Pierre Bely, born August 24th 1936, healed October 9th 1987. The miracle was accepted February 9th 1999 by His Excellency Bishop Claude Dagens, Bishop of Angouleme.

Jean-Pierre Bely was a male nurse at the Hospital of Angouleme. In 1972 he began to suffer intermittent neurological disorders without precise location, 2 or 3 times a year. After a change of activity, these problems became less frequent until 1982 when it appeared a double vision disease, which in principle is manifested by small crises and repeated several times a day for short periods. Between 1984 and 1987 he manifested episodes of motor weakness, localized in the right half of body, which was aggravated VERY QUICKLY, despite having finally abandoned the work.
The walking and sitting became difficult and then impossible.

During this time he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis rapidly evolving.

In October 1987, when he was bedridden, suffering from paresthesias and urinary incontinence, the patient was transported to Lourdes with Rosary Pilgrimage.
AFTER THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK, the third day, he immediately felt a strong sense of inner peace. A few hours later, he became aware of RECOVERY OF SENSITIVITY AND CAPACITY OF MOVEMENT, so complete that allowed him to leave Lourdes walking and being able to travel sitting,

Dr. Devoize, a neurologist at Angouleme, had the opportunity to see him a few days after his return home. He visited Jean-Pierre Bely the first time in December 1986, confirming the diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. But now the patient did not complain any more trouble and his NEUROLOGICAL EXAMINATION WAS ABSOLUTELY NORMAL.

In February 1988, Professor Gil, a neurologist at Poitiers, after having visited him he also confirmed the previous diagnosis of multiple sclerosis and concluded for “a neurological healing WITHOUT POSSIBLE EXPLANATION.”

The Lourdes’ Medical Bureau was informed about this unpredictable evolution and after numerous checks in the following years, they recognized this healing as “certain, unique and definitive” in 1992.

The International Medical Committee, after an examination carried out by two of their members ( Professor Mouren and Dottor Armand-Laroche), entrusted to Professor Confavreux, from Lyon, in 1994, the report on this healing. This report was discussed among members of the Committee, but the decision was held suspended.

In 1998 it was presented a second report by the same expert who concluded: “With a good degree of probability, Mr. Bely has suffered a very serious organic disease in an advanced stage, whose SUDDEN healings during a pilgrimage to Lourdes is unusual and unexplainable by science. ”

About this report the Committee decided in these terms: “Today It ‘s impossible for medical science to say more. Therefore, the International Medical Committee submits the dossier of Jean-Pierre Bely to the authority, responsible for ruling on the importance of this healing.”

A few months later, in February 1999, the Bishop of Angouleme, His Excellency Bishop Claude Dagens, having received the favorable opinion of a Diocesan Canonical Commission, he settled, on behalf of the Church, that this SUDDEN AND COMPLETE HEALING is a personal gift of God and an effective sign of Christ the Savior, which was accomplished through the intercession of Our Lady of Lourdes.
How can i show some medical reports on the Internet? And they are not mine… Come on… if you are interested you can search for specific literature and books about this miracles. This case is one of the most famous.

And who ever talked about spontaneous regression in a few hours? It’s something that simply cannot happen in nature. he was paralyzed, unable to move, and suddenly he was healed.

Q&A: What are the beginning signs and symptoms of MS and how fast can this progress untreated?

Question by Jen n CraigB: What are the beginning signs and symptoms of MS and how fast can this progress untreated?
How fast does it progress when taking meds?

Best answer:

Answer by Suranga
Unfortunately there are no specific signs and symptoms for MS. MS can present with almost any neurological symptom such as weakness or paralsysis of a limb, sudden loss of vision, urinary incontinence, dizziness, etc.

If untreated, more than 30% of patients with MS will develop significant physical disability within 20-25 years from onset. This prognosis is changing for these patients with the advent of new treatments.

Patients with primary progressive MS (PPMS) tend to accumulate disability without interruption (ie, without remissions) from the time of disease onset. Some of these patients first present with weakness of only one limb, which gradually progresses to involve other limbs and may culminate in total paralysis. Patients with PPMS typically respond poorly to the current therapeutic options for MS, accumulate disability faster than other patients, and tend to have more weakness of the legs as well as incontinence.

Male patients with PPMS have the worst prognosis, responding less favorably to treatment and rapidly accumulating disability. The higher incidence of spinal cord lesions in PPMS is also a factor in the rapid development of disability.

Does anyone have good news to share about Copaxone for treatment of MS? Was just prescribed this and I’m a?

Question by vwchickadee: Does anyone have good news to share about Copaxone for treatment of MS? Was just prescribed this and I’m a?
little hesitant to start. I’ve been surfing the internet and reading all kinds of horror stories about side effects and reactions to it. It’s probably not good to do that, but I’m curious how it will affect me and am scared to death that I’ll have a severe reaction. I took Avonex for a year and had to stop because I became so suicidal.

Answer by Relentlessly Wrong
Copaxone (glatiramer acetate) is a compound made up of amino acids. These amino acids, which are also found in myelin, are thought to help switch the immune system from causing inflammation around lesions to reducing inflammation.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a disease in which the myelin sheaths are destroyed. What process does this interfere with and what would be the consequence?

Best answer:

Answer by swtirishrose04
The myelin sheath covers the nerve, it is insulation. It enables the impulses to travel quickly between the nerve endings. When this sheath is damaged the person can lose many functions that involve nerve impulses. They can have muscles that spasm…..lose control of bowels and bladder, lose their sensation of touch. It is a progressive disease. The term for the nerves communicating with each other is “synapse”. The mylenation of the nerves contributes to the synapse. Hopefully, this answers your question.
