Question by -naughtyprincess-: I have multiple sclerosis, but I have never had a lesion appear on an MRI.?
I carry the diagnosis, and I take the medication Copaxone, but every time I have an MRI (yearly) they say that they dont see lesions…so do I actually have MS or not? Does anyone else hear this from their neurologist. I am afraid that they just think I am crazy and making stuff up!

Best answer:

Answer by janab712003
My mom has a condition known as Stiff Person’s Syndrome (yes, real name!) Her condition mimics the symptoms of MS, Lupus and Fibromyalgia. In other words, she has symptoms from each of those conditions. They’ve done a couple of MRI’s on her and never once saw a legion…of any kind, anywhere! But somehow she was officially diagnosed with SPS which is registered with NORD, the National Organization of Rare Disorders. Even still if she has to go to a new neurologist, sometimes she has to go all the way back to basics in explaining everything to that new doc.

You aren’t crazy! Don’t even think that! You don’t WANT to have MS, so why “make it up”? I would suggest that you either seek another neurologist and get a 2nd, 3rd or even 4th opinion and maybe do some research with the NORD organization. I think they have a website. Keep your head up! You aren’t crazy!

Article by Marry

ONE OF THE HARDEST PARTS of living with a chronic illness like MS is thinking that you have to face it alone–but you really don’t. Whenever I begin to feel alone, I try to remember to reach out to a friend to help me do errands, pray with me, or just talk. Prayer is probably the most healing thing I do. In the morning, I pour myself a cup of coffee, light a candle, and pray the psalms. I am always struck by the ones that speak of healing. From praying the psalms, my thinking changes from what I can’t do with MS to what I can.

At rst I thought it was my new “industrial strength” support pantyhose that caused the numbness in my legs. It was October of my rst year teaching junior high. I went to the doctor, thinking I had pinched a nerve. Three weeks later, I came out of the hospital with a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. I was twenty-two years old.

That was twenty-eight years ago, and a lot of things have changed for me since then. These days I walk with a cane and wear a leg-strengthening brace.

But for the rst twelve years, my MS was mostly dormant–my legs tired easily, but there were no other symptoms. Gradually, the neurological disease progressed, and I decided I had to do something to help me cope. The decision to take control of my MS was not dramatic. It happened over time–and is still happening–through the choices I make.

I think my family background, my faith, and my philosophy of life have made me see the “everybody’s got something, nobody’s perfect” part of the human condition. Of course, I have moments when I shed tears because I want to do more things, but the fact is, I can’t. We humans have many facets: we are physical, emotional, spiritual, sexual, and social beings. For me, the transforming power of MS has come through my spirituality.

I spend a lot of time resting, doing physical therapy, taking medicine, and praying. I’m a Roman Catholic nun with the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio, and I try to live by St. Francis of Assisi’s prayer: “Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace.” I nd great comfort in scripture and prayer. Prayer guides me to do things that are right for me. Every time I do my thirty-ve-minute mat exercise program in physical therapy, I say a silent prayer. It’s the prayer that helps me do these things with hope in my heart.

You know, people have always used prayer, music, ritual imagination, and faith along with traditional therapies to cope with disease. These days we may call these “alternative therapies,” but they’re such an important part of the healing process. I know that many people in the world of medicine are skeptical of prayer, and I’m grateful that my medical professionals have always supported me in my beliefs.

If I had to pinpoint the major turning points in how I look at this disease, one of them would have to be the night I watched the series nale of Murphy Brown. Murphy is just nishing a six-month course of chemotherapy for breast cancer and is at the doctor’s ofce for a nal mammogram. She is ready to say to the nurse, “Okay, it’s been real, see you in six months,” and walk out, but the nurse tells her that the doctor needs to talk with her about a suspicious spot on her breast.

Murphy is scheduled to have exploratory surgery the next day. While under the anesthetic, she has a dream about her job. In her waking life, she’s been planning to retire from her job as a top-notch investigative news reporter for a major network news show and enjoy life, because, as she says, “The only person I haven’t interviewed is God!” Of course, in her dream, she interviews God.

After a few general questions about God’s age, who goes to Heaven, and why evil happens in the world, God answers Murphy’s question, “Why in the hell (oops, excuse me, heck) do I have breast cancer” with the answer, “Your cancer is a gift.”

Murphy wakes up to discover that the tumor is benign, goes back to work, and truly experiences a conversion. She is no longer the cynical reporter she once was. Her disease, her gift, transformed her.Hearing this brought me to tears. I gave myself some time to analyze my feelings and realized that my MS is a gift too.

Of course most people would think this is nuts! I walk slowly with a cane and a leg brace. Everything takes longer, and getting around can be pretty painful. But I have so much to be grateful for. Living with this disease for twenty-three years has shown me just how much love there is in this world. I have so many wonderful people in my life, so many friends who travel with me, shop with me, or go to a movie with me, and support me in my fundraising activities. And then there’s Sister Act.

Sister Act is our team for the walk that raises money for the National MS Society’s efforts to ?nd a cure. We just celebrated our tenth anniversary. The size of the team changes year to year, but one year we had about twenty sisters walking. We are quite an act. The sisters, who do this as a ministry, range from elementary school principals and teachers, to college professors, to hospital chaplains and physical therapists and nurses. We hope to raise our annual ,000 this year and bring our grand total to ,000.

Question by Kasey: HELP! Easy 10 points! I only need a closing sentence!?
This is my essay for a volcational school, I just need a closing sentence! All tips are welcome

“Education is our greatest opportunity to give an irrevocable gift to the next generation.”- Ernie Fletcher

In many countries, people must pay for an education. It is obscure how many people in the United States of America take their education for granted. To be honored with the opportunity to learn for free, all should be exalting, for they are extremely lucky.
To be admitted into the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science is an opportunity of a life time. I am a great candidate to be admitted, for my grades are above average, and all together I am a well rounded student. The amount of community service I have done and will do in the future is an extensive amount. I have experienced feeding the homeless, giving gifts with Angel Tree to children with parents in prison, helping out a woman with Multiple Sclerosis, cleaning up garbage in my local area, and much more. Doing community service is a pleasure to me.
Many people in this great nation are not honored to be able to say that they absolutely love doing math, as I do so. To me, math comes naturally, and I do truly enjoy participating in math class. Going to M.A.T.E.S would be so great for me, since the main focus here is math and science. Along with math, I also love science. In science, I do my best during hands on experiments, so the hands on experiences in M.A.T.E.S would be very beneficial to me.
There is one main reason I want to go to M.A.T.E.S. This reason is I want the best education I can possibly have. Even though schooling usually comes easily and naturally to me, it requires hard work, dedication, and perseverance to succeed. I have not decided what I want as a career when I grow up yet, but I know I do want it to be involving math, and going to M.A.T.E.S is the best opportunity for me to follow my dreams and true passion.
The focus on community service that M.A.T.E.S students have fully described something I am looking for in a high school. I am a proud member of the National Junior Honor Society, a girl scout and a very good athlete; I know how to handle hard work and other activities.
As a studious person, I always want to challenge myself. For fun, and when in boredom, I do mathematics. In M.A.T.E.S pupils are pushed to succeed, to go above and beyond expectations, which is exactly what I want to do.

Ok, there is this high school M.A.T.E.S. This is my essay to get in. I REALLLLLY want to get in, its supposed to be pretty short, ( fit on half a page, im putting it in tiny faunt). I need a closing sentence! any ideas? Oh yeah, also edit anything if u want! THANKYOU!

and btw, God Bless <3

Best answer:

Answer by Casey/Kelle
Your last sentence is a good closing sentence. Good luck.

line 3 – delete “all”.

Baltimore-based Actor/Film Producer moves forward through personal tragedy and hosts Celebrity Red Carpet Event to Benefit Lou Gherig’s Disease (ALS) at the Senator Theatre (Baltimore, MD)—Walter Maxfield Jones is an actor and film producer whose accomplishments can rightfully deem him a local celebrity, including hosting the longest running open mic and poetry event in the country for the past 13 years—Warm Wednesdays (which in 2004 was given its own “Annual Day” in Baltimore by former Mayor, now MD Governor O’Malley). However, in 2008, Jones was faced with one of his biggest and most life-altering challenges when his mother was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gherig’s disease. In an instant, her prognosis changed everything–instead of gracing stages all over the country, Walter Maxfield Jones’ leading role became fulltime care-giver to his mother. ALS is a rapidly progressive fatal neuromuscular disease which results in over 80% of people with the disease dying of ALS within two to five years of diagnosis. According to the National ALS Association and based on US population studies, a little over 5600 people in the US are diagnosed with ALS each year, which is approximately 15 new cases per day. Statistically, 90% of home care is being shouldered financially and physically by family caregivers. After a year and a half battle, on July 16, 2009, Walter Maxfield Jones’ mother—Ms. Joyce Duckworth passed away from complications …
