Q&A: Anyone taking low dose naltrexone for treatment of MS?

Posted by admin Comments (0)

Question by vwchickadee: Anyone taking low dose naltrexone for treatment of MS?
I’m trying to convince my doctor to prescribe this for me. She is hesitant because there have not been any clinical trials of this drug by the FDA for treatment of RRMS. Just want to know what any of you have experienced. I’m taking Copaxone currently and want to get off the daily injections!

I don’t have MS and don’t know anyone who has tried it, however the website below is a description from someone who has and it may help you somehow.

I can understand your wanting to try it and I can equally understand your doctors reluctance.

Hope that helps, I wish you well.

Multiple Sclerosis

Posted by admin Comments (0)

Multiple sclerosis is a rather unknown disease, because it does not affect many people. However, multiple sclerosis is a very hard medical condition. The reason is because when you suffer from multiple sclerosis, the patches of myelin or the fibres of your nerves are damaged. Multiple sclerosis affects the nerves of your eyes, spinal cord or brain.

This disease, multiple sclerosis actually refers to the number of sclerosis areas that are a result of the demyelination of your nerves. Multiple sclerosis affects young adults, with ages between twenty up to fourty years old. Multiple sclerosis affects more women then men. The number of women affected by multiple sclerosis is actually twice of the number of men that suffer from multiple sclerosis. In multiple sclerosis, there are periods of flare- ups and periods of remission. Actually the first type of multiple sclerosis is called relapsing- remitting. However, this is only the beginning of multiple sclerosis. In time, this condition gets even worse. The second stage of multiple sclerosis is second progressive. The third type of multiple sclerosis is first progressive. For the first two multiple sclerosis types, there are drugs that can change the course of the disease, multiple sclerosis.

Multiple sclerosis presents a mistery that people have not been able to solve yet. What causes multiple sclerosis is still unknown. One of the explanation that doctors have given us is that multiple sclerosis may be caused by a virus. Another theory is that an antigen, of unknown origin is the cause of multiple sclerosis. What this antigen or virus do is to make your body attack its own tissues. Then, the auto immune system starts to fight against its own cells, causing inflammation and the distruction of the myelin patch and nerve fibres. This is what happens when you have multiple sclerosis. Genetics is thought to be another probable cause for multiple sclerosis. If someone in your family has had multiple sclerosis, you are more at risk of developing multiple sclerosis then others. Another cause for the development of multiple sclerosis is thought to be the environment. It appears that the first 16 years of your life are very important for multiple sclerosis. If you have lived in a temperate climate, chances are that you will develop multiple sclerosis. On the other hand, if you have lived in a tropical climate, that lowers the risk of having multiple sclerosis.

I have a natural cures book and for MS is says to try a magnetic matress pad, colon cleanse, eliminate artificial sweetners( they are poison, toxic), no monosodiumglutamate, candida cleanse( that is a type of yeast) heavy metal cleanse, get rid of metal fillings, do a liver/gall bladder cleanse, and try alphabiotics. I have read amazing things about doing any or all of these steps for MS, start with eliminating diet soda and all artificial sweetners, that will help tremendously, If I were you I would also switch as much food as possible to organic food. I hope this helps you, God bless you, let me know if you do these things and you feel better, if you want, I would love to know!!

Can I refuse to get treatment for MS?

Posted by admin Comments (1)

Question by mattysmom: Can I refuse to get treatment for MS?
I have MS. Therapies I have tried haven’t really made life any better. I am aggravated as I still have had relapses and am in constant pain. I get disability pmts from work and applied and have a hearing for social security disability. Can I refuse to treat the disease and still be eligible for benefits?

Can I refuse to be admitted to the hospital for treatments when I go ER- seems like I always feel pressured to accept IV steroids and have given in on two occasions.

Topic: National Multiple Sclerosis Society, CT Chapter. For more info visit our website at www.NHTV.com

Hello all. Got my head on straight again. Thank you for the outpouring of support. It took me getting angry to get the motivation I needed with help from a very special friend “astronautsandwitch”. The first step in getting legal represenatation to represent us. The founding of a PHYSICAL; LEGAL entity called the North American CCSVI Society. The creation of an executive board of physicians, nurses, lawyers, cardiovascular surgeons, neurologist (only a sincere dedicated neuro, radiologists, surgeons, part-time clerical staff. The establishment of home offices in the US and Canada with constant sharing of information and concise plan of attack for raising CCSVI awareness, equipment, training, funding clinical trials, overseeing clinical trials. Raising funds for MRV, doppler, and cooperation with universities that will be involved in the research. The NACCSVI Society would also prevent people from opening up opportunistic clinics that would do unsafe procedures in an attempt to make a quick buck. The framework will involve first legal representation and then the formation of an executive board. The next step the physical procurement of offices and staffing and then fundraising toward CCSVI research. We can do this. Anyone who would like to volunteer ideas, time, services, legal expertise may feel free to contact me at irishbear76@yahoo.com Together we can!!! God bless. Mark

Fundraising Help?

Question by whatnow: Fundraising Help?
I am 14 years old and me and my friend want to make a group that raises money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. We want to do things like go have a bake sale, make things and sell them and go door to door asking for money. The only problem is that we dont how to make it so when we ask for money the people know were legit. What should we do? Were just starting out and we need help on what to do first! Were thinking of calling this SP-TAMS (which stands for Sun Prairie teens against MS)

Hello,

That’s great that you and your friends are fund raising for MS. I have MS and counsel others with it. I thank you very much.
I would suggest contacting your local chapter of the MS Society and tell them what you’re doing. Maybe, they can give you an id card or something to show that you’re legit.
Post the info on my Yahoo Group (see below) and you might get some donations.

GOOD LUCK!!!
