What is the prognosis of someone diagnosed with multiple sclerosis?

Question by Sammi: What is the prognosis of someone diagnosed with multiple sclerosis?

Answer by What Will The Spill Kill?
Not so good: I know one person who went totally blind from it, another one lost her hearing because of it, and the third one still can see a little but it’s deteriorating.
I think I answered your other question:
If you got diagnosed with this condition try to get good nutrition. Get chlorella, brown seaweed, and phytoplankton and start detoxifying your body–all three things detoxify: the plankton and seaweed do heavy metals and other toxins, the chlorella does pesticides. Add the phytoplankton to your daily regimen and if you cannot afford eating organic keep the seaweed and chlorella on your daily regiment. Seaweed and phytoplankton are extremely nutitious with the phytoplankton being the most complete food there is. I have done this type of detox since six weeks now and I am starting to feel a LOT better. We do not realize how polluted our environment is until something happens. Good luck

Question by SassyMs: Any great ideas for fundraising? The National Multiple Sclerosis Society Challenge Walk…?
I am currently seeking funds for a 50 mile 3 day walk for The National Multiple Sclerosis Society. I have to raise $ 2500 to participate and I am just 10% of my goal. I have sent emails, letters, ( to everyone including places that I bring my business too.. so far not much from that forum.

If you are a teenager, ask your school to get involved. Ask for donation of SPARE CHANGE only. Have a contest where the classroom that brings in the most money gets a pizza or ice cream party. You can get a local pizza place to donate the food or give you a great discount. You would be amazed what you can get just by asking.

If not a teenager in school, still ask the local high school or elementary schools for help. Just ask to talk to the principal.

Also, don’t just send letters to the places you do business…..go in and follow-up. It’s easy for business owners to shove a letter aside, but more difficult to say no in person. Also, they may have received the letter and now known who you are. Put a face to it and ask person-to-person.

Q&A: How can I raise money for a family member to receive experimental treatment for MS?

Posted by admin Comments (1)

Question by Morgan: How can I raise money for a family member to receive experimental treatment for MS?
My aunt suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. She was accepted into an experimental treatment in Chicago which is wonderful. The only problem we are having is that they need money for housing, travel, and, of course, the procedure itself. Does anyone have any ideas of how to raise money for it? Most of what I find online for fundraisers are low yield. Any little bit will help but fundraisers that will provide a lot of money would be terrific. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

Have a spaghetti dinner at a local church hall or school cafeteria. You’ll have to sell tickets to the dinner in advance so you’ll have money to buy the spaghetti, sauce, garlic bread, etc…

Check this out here:

Or you can find other ideas on the site too:

Then have the proceeds go to your family member’s experimental treatment.

Good Luck.

What did you think of it? Does anyone remember that ad?

I remember it. First she gets chained around the legs or something, then the arms, etc., and finally around the head and mouth. I thought I was watching Hellraiser.

Is smoking marijuana legal for treatment of MS?

Posted by admin Comments (3)

Question by Jenny K: Is smoking marijuana legal for treatment of MS?
I know that there are lots of protests etc. about making marijuana legal for sufferers of mutliple sclerosis (MS).

But recently, I also heard that in some parts of the UK it is already legal, and it can be prescribed by doctors as the most effective pain treatment.

I need to use this argument in a debate, so any information would be very much apprecaited. Please give a source.

Thanks

MS is an autoimmune demylinating disorder which affects ur nerve fibers , but it’s very rare to have it during childhood or after age 50 years , so if u r older than 50 , don’t worry too much , unless u have a relative who had MS before , because sometimes it can be genetic .

as i understood from u , u r feeling dizzy and tiredness in ur feet and arm and “chest” , actually these aren’t close to symptoms of MS , it’s closer to blood pressure problems which explain the dizziness , but from what i got from you i can’t give u a specific diagnosis

anyway , the first symptoms of MS are usually: visual problems, ataxia , inability to move ur limbs normally, and most commonly .. difficulty in controlling urinary bladder.

personally , i advise u to go to a hospital and do MRI , to exclude any problems in ur nervous system, also if u tell the details to the doctor .. he will do blood test , and EMG to assess ur muscles power.

that’s it…and i hope it’s nothing serious.. good luck

The Wide Spectrum of Multiple Sclerosis Symptoms

Posted by admin Comments (0)

Due to the fact that multiple sclerosis is a complex disease that primarily causes impairments at the level of the central nervous system (CNS) that later spread in multiple regions of the body, the produced symptoms are various and can perceived at different intensities. In its first stages of progression, multiple sclerosis generates a wide variety of mild to moderate neurological symptoms. In more advanced phases of the disease, when other body systems also become affected, multiple sclerosis may cause many different physical manifestations.

The undesired effects of multiple sclerosis on the human body are often irreversible, rendering prompt medical intervention crucial for reducing the development of complications. Despite the fact that there is no specific cure for multiple sclerosis in present, the existing forms of treatment can successfully control the progression rate and the symptoms characteristic to this type of disease. Thus, patients are usually administered an appropriate treatment as soon as they are diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

The symptoms of multiple sclerosis are diversified and they can occur in many different body regions. Most patients have individualized symptoms of multiple sclerosis, manifestations that generally occur in episodes, or flares. The intensity, frequency and duration of multiple sclerosis symptoms are strongly influenced by the stage of progression and the specific subtype of the disease. The progression of multiple sclerosis is often unpredictable, alternating between phases of symptomatic remission and phases of relapse. The majority of patients diagnosed with multiple sclerosis experience recidivating symptoms that generally tend to amplify in the stages of relapse.

Common symptoms of multiple sclerosis comprise generalized fatigue, body weakness, sensations of tingling, burning, pain and numbness in the muscles, loss of dexterity and poorly coordinated body movement. Other common symptoms produced by multiple sclerosis are: vision problems, shaking of the limbs, spasms, convulsions, inability to maintain balance, dizziness, vertigo and confusion. In more advanced phases of disease, multiple sclerosis can also generate manifestations such as partial paralysis, renal and gastrointestinal problems.

Neuropsychological symptoms of multiple sclerosis generally occur in the incipient stages of disease, gradually amplifying over time. Such symptoms include inaccurate perceptions, decreased concentration, short-term memory loss (amnesia), reduced judgment and unexpected changes in behavior. A symptom that is commonly seen in patients with multiple sclerosis is depression. Persons with multiple sclerosis eventually become depressed and refuse any form of social interaction. Although depression and other similar neuropsychological symptoms are a common problem among patients with multiple sclerosis, medical scientists haven’t yet unveiled the exact origin of such manifestations.

While some groups of medical scientists believe that most neuropsychological symptoms are solely the result of impairments at the level of the central nervous system, others believe that they are a consequence of prolonged treatment. This second opinion is considered to be more accurate, as the psychological symptoms of patients with multiple sclerosis gradually ameliorate after the treatment is interrupted.
