Multiple Sclerosis – My Story

Mr. Durham is a math teacher at Hillsborough Middle School in Hillsborough New Jersey. Six years ago, Mr. Durham was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Mr. Durham has battled MS with 1) Interferon drugs 2) A diet high in protein and natural/unprocessed foods 3) Exercise- lifting weights, cardio, cycling outdoors 4) Meditation- Buddhist meditation and Yoga 5) PMA – Positive Mental Attitude (LOTS OF LAUGHTER) Mr. Durham is singing due to losing a bet that the Eagles would make it to the Super Bowl. Part of Mr. Durham’s theme as a teacher is KEEPING YOUR WORD!- See “Durham Dancing” on Youtube search. “Life is full of ups and downs. MS creates new hills that provide many challenges while providing new rewards to enjoy. While living with MS has been a hardship at times, at the same time it has brought out the best attributes in most of the people I come in contact with. My family & friends have become an invaluable support system to help or listen whenever I need it. If you do not have a support system, please contact you local hospital who can find a support group for you to join. The group can be an MS support Group, a Chronic Disease Support Group, or any other type of group that erases any feeling of isolation. Talking & listening to others has been a great benefit to me. Aside from my family & friends, the largest benefit to my life has been my work. Never would I have thought teaching children would be so beneficial to my health, well being, and my life. Multiple Sclerosis: Zamboni’s Liberation Procedure Safety & Efficacy Concerns.

Much has been said about Paolo Zamboni’s discovery of CCSVI and the link to multiple sclerosis. Opponents of Zamboni have been fueled with reports of dislodged stints and NIH and governments forbidding further ulilization of the “Liberation Procedure” In the midst of all this chaos, some major points are being missed 1) The pathogenesis of MS has probably been discovered which will open the door to an ultimate cure for the disease. Finally, all the questions that have stymied researchers and neurologist have been answered 2) Early in experimental procedures bad things happen. These pioneers pave the way to where millions of people can have the procedure done safely and most effectively 3) Balloon inflation of the jugular and azygous has proven to be at least temporarily effective in stopping relapse and the possiblily of grafting veins from other areas of the body present a safe solution to the self-adjusting stents coming loose and provide a permanent solution to narrowing of cerebrovascular veins 4) Millions of people in the world with MS are walking around with a ticking time bomb in their neck and chest just waiting to have this vascular problem assessed and ultimately addressed. Why wouldn’t we be impatient. 5) WIth the discovery of CCSVI the funding for MS should center on this new revelation. MS patients will have to be vocal, diligent, and ASSEMBLE for the rights of MS sufferers to be respected. 6) MS patients are intelligent enough to make the decision if they
